It is unsettling to think about all the time you’ve lost while untangling your headphones. At least, I find it troubling, because more often than not I would have to remove my headphones for just a little while and the wires would get entangled. One day I decided to take my phone out every time I had to untie my cables and record the time, and oh boy was there a surprise. I had lost a total of 9 minutes throughout the day, solely taking care of my headphones’ cables.
While nine minutes is not a lot by itself, it can very quickly stack up and multiply. If it takes you on average five minutes per day, after 30 days you would have lost 150 minutes, or two hours and a half. Two whole hours and a half of your month lost, all while trying to untangle your headphones. Doesn’t sound so insignificant anymore, right?
Most wireless headphones do not offer you a truly wireless experience. The Apple AirPods, as well as the Jabra wireless earbuds, are the only two good options for truly wireless earbuds that we’ve encountered. The rest have a cable connecting them. In my case, I prefer the ones with a cable, as I am not worried about losing half of my headphones.
Below is our take on the top 5 best wireless earbuds:
# | Image | Product | Price |
1 | Apple | $145 | |
2 | Bose | $199 | |
3 | Beats | $120 | |
4 | Jabra | $190 | |
5 | Bang & Olufsen | $195 |
1. Apple AirPods
When it comes to quality and convenience, the Apple AirPods are unmatched. The best part about the headphones is the experience — just take them out of the box, bring them close to your iPhone, and you are ready to play your favorite music. If you don’t have an iPhone, then connecting is still as simple as it sounds. If not even faster than regular Bluetooth headphones. All you need to do is just open your Bluetooth settings and connect right away.
When it comes to sound quality, the AirPods are much like the Apple EarBuds that come included with the iPhone. What stands out from others is the quick charging functionality. For 15 minutes of charging time you can get up to 3 hours of playback, isn’t this amazing? All you have to do is put them back in the case, and they start charging. They can play for a maximum of 6 hours on a single charge or 1 whole day with the case fully loaded.
2. Bose SoundSport Wireless
As the name suggests, the Bose SoundSport is equipped with all the features and sensors you need to go and exercise. It even includes a built-in heart rate sensor that allows you to quickly and efficiently monitor your performance during the training.
The headphones can be connected through either Bluetooth or NFC. If you’re often running, then these headphones are the way to go. The special StayHear+ Pulse tips allow you to move freely without having to worry about your headphones falling off. The Bose SoundSport comes with the unique Bose Connect app, through which you can follow your heart rate and much more.
3. BeatsX Earphones
An excellent and cheaper alternative to the Apple AirPods are the BeatsX headphones. They come in two colors — black and white — and with 30% more battery life than the AirPods. With a single charge, they can play for up to 8 hours, two whole hours more than the AirPods. The BeatsX are aslso better-sounding then the AirPods. Unlike them though, the BeatsX do not come with a charging box.
If you are often on the go, or you just listen a lot and sometimes you forget to charge your devices — do not worry. The BeatsX can handle up to 2 hours of playtime with only 5 minutes of charging. I’ve personally had to use this functionality more often than not and let me tell you — it’s a life savior.
4. Jabra Elite Active 65T
Although the most expensive ones, these are probably the best sounding truly wireless headphones. Unlike the AirPods that come in a single size, the Jabra earbuds come with a unique design and tips that allow you to achieve a perfect fit for your ears. They are also IP56 water resistance rated with two years of warranty.
The Jabra Elite Active comes in three different color variations — Titanium Black, Copper Blue, and Gold Blue. All of them look amazing on your ears and fit almost any clothes. With a single charge, they can handle up to 5 hours of playtime, or 15 hours with the special charging case.
5. Bang & Olufsen Beoplay 5
Bang & Olufsen have decades of experience in crafting quality audio wearables. The Beoplay 5 headphones are no different. They are available in several different color options — Black, Green, Rose, and Vapour colors — and are the perfect fit for almost any situation.
The battery of the Beoplay 5 lasts for about five hours of playtime on a single charge. The included Beoplay app allows you to easily adjust the sound to fit the activities you are doing, while the multiple tip sizes allow for the best-customized fit.
